Unsuccessful writer Aylmer Franklyn takes the chance to change identities after he discovers a corpse. However, he soon finds himself accused of the murder of a maid at a near-by boarding house.

A wealthy and powerful industrialist changes his identity to avenge himself on the wife that spurned him on their wedding night.

Under a flickering fluorescent light, glimpses of brutal yakuza violence fade in and out... beside them, a man vomits. This man, silent and suffering from epilepsy, (played by Ozawa Hitoshi), has apparently "taken care of" two thugs who crossed him. Now, both the police and his own yakuza clan are after him, determined to restore their honor. But when this man snaps, the city is drenched in a storm of blood... a tale of men driven to the brink, where everyone is ferociously unhinged!

A Liverpool gang member wins a singing contest is then called up for National Service where he clashes with another soldier.

A British submarine on patrol is accidentally rammed by a merchant ship, that tears a big hole in in sub. It sinks and the trapped men are doomed, unless a diving-lung, recently added to HRM subs is successful...and there will be time enough to save all the crew.

A detective declares: "The era of yakuza strutting around with authority is over." Yet the streets are now overrun with lawless rogues. Tommy (Yamaguchi Yoshiyuki) and Buchi (Suzuki Minoru) are a reckless duo, pretending to help women only to take advantage of them, skipping out on bills at cabaret clubs, and scraping by while living out of a car in a parking lot that costs just 1,200 yen a night. One day, however, they cross the wrong line. After targeting a store backed by yakuza, they find themselves in a heated conflict. Thinking they can extort the gangsters, they soon learn the harsh reality of provoking the true underworld.

Moments before being surprised at an anniversary garden party thrown by her husband and their family and friends, Carol Sherwood shocks him by saying she wants a divorce and during the course of the party, she has three separate fantasies of marriages to three different men. The first is with egotistical real estate magnate Craig Wyler. The second is with milquetoast English professor David Koenig. The third is with her best friend Elaine's husband, Phil.

A mother's preference for partying, boozing and running around with an assortment of sleazy characters results in her neglecting her nubile teenage daughter, who subsequently finds herself mixed up with horny teenage boys, scuzzy nightclub owners and murder.

The show was set at the turn of the 20th century, in an old town called Elmsville. It portrayed the everyday lives of the Day family, which consisted of a widow, her three children, and her father. Each episode featured the various family members and their interaction with friends and neighbors, usually ending with a lesson learned.
